The diagram above shows an example of a TAP placed between
a fibre channel switch port, host HBA port, and a Finisar
Network Analyzer. TAPs are passive devices, not requiring
power to function, and will not affect your data but will
create a copy of the traffic for the analyzer, NetWisdom
ProbeFC, or other device.
Applications connected to business-critical links can
not afford downtime. Best practices for SAN debugging
and performance monitoring is to have pre-installed TAPs
in these links allowing SAN administrators and device
vendor field engineers to rapidly troubleshoot any anomalies
or slow downs in the SAN without impacting production
servers or applications.
Fault-tolerant TAPs (Traffic Access Points) provide access
to all the storage traffic from both sides of a full-duplex
link at line rate speed. The Roving TAPs provide the additional
capability of switching a single connection between 8
TAPs. The Roving TAP is active, so it is recommended that
a passive Single or HD TAP be put in front of the Roving
TAP.
The 8 port Roving TAP is available in 62.5 or 50 micron
version fibers and is offered in Multi-Mode (MM) and Single-Mode
(SM) configurations. The Roving TAP may be mounted with
Rack Mount Kits.
Fault-tolerant TAPs (Traffic Access Points) provide access
to all the storage traffic from both sides of a full-duplex
link at line rate speed. Completely invisible and non-intrusive
to the storage network, TAPs provide a way to access fibre
channel traffic for monitoring, analysis and diagnosis.
High Density Fiber Optic TAPs for Fibre Channel support
up to 10Gbs and are completely passive.
Fiber TAPs are all fault tolerant, non-intrusive, in-line
TAPs for fiber optic links. They do not add latency or
retiming to the link.
The High Density TAP minimizes space with 16 single TAPs
in a 1 U rack mountable configuration.
The High Density TAPs are available in 62.5 or 50 micron
version fibers. Optical split ratio choices of 50/50 and
70/30 allow for optimized application in a fibre link.
Fibre TAPs are offered in Multi-Mode (MM) and Single-Mode
(SM) configurations.
Single-Port TAPs
Fault-tolerant TAPs (Traffic Access Points) provide access
to all the storage traffic from both sides of a full-duplex
link at line rate speed. Completely invisible and non-intrusive
to the storage network, TAPs provide a way to access fibre
channel traffic for monitoring, analysis and diagnosis.
Fiber Optic TAPs for Ethernet or Fibre Channel support
up to 10Gbs and are completely passive. These Fiber TAPs
are all fault tolerant, non-intrusive, in-line TAPs for
fiber optic links. They do not add latency or retiming
to the link.
The TAPs are available in 62.5 or 50 micron version fibers.
Optical split ratio choices allow for optimized application
in a fibre link. Fibre TAPs are offered in Multi-Mode
(MM) and Single-Mode (SM) configurations. Single port
TAPs may be mounted with Rack Mount Kits.
The 50 micron Multi-Mode (MM) TAPs are currently only
offered with a 50/50 split ratio.
