Via the NRMS’ central management console, configuration
changes can be issued enterprise-wide with a few mouse
clicks. Throughout the distributed infrastructure, Envoy
NRMs receive their orders from the NRMS and execute the
configuration changes locally, again leveraging their
dedicated serial connections to managed devices – the
same ones that other out-of-band solutions only use to
provide access.
If a configuration change fails, Envoy appliances immediately
roll the device back to the last known good configuration
using our unique SurgicalRollback feature. Affecting only
the changed elements, this process restores a known state
without affecting other device operations. The Envoy appliances
locally store configurations for each device under management
to enable this powerful feature. This capability alone
has prevented hours of downtime and a number of headaches
for our customers.
