Uplogix Service Level Verification

The optional, software-based Service Level Verification (SLV) management module from Uplogix ensures consistent, high levels of IT service by monitoring and measuring the performance of critical network services and applications from the end-user’s perspective. By combining the functionality of the SLV module with the powerful features of the Envoy NRM, you can achieve unprecedented control over your network applications and supporting infrastructure.

Service Level Verification monitor and measure the performance of critical network services and applications

With the SLV module in place, Envoy appliances use synthetic transactions to regularly collect network- and application-specific performance data, which is available for viewing and analysis in the NRMS central management console.

Using the NRMS, it is quick and easy to set and compare baselines and acceptable thresholds for the services being monitored. Based on customizable settings, the NRMS will send immediate notifications when service-level events occur that violate these thresholds. Service-level data is also stored and archived for up to one year for trend analysis, and can be easily exported for custom reporting or integration into other management systems.

Throughout the distributed infrastructure, Envoy NRM appliances locally correlate service-level data with infrastructure performance data to triangulate and pinpoint the root cause of service-related problems. In many cases, Envoy appliances can even automate fixing the issue, making active management a reality.

SLV Supported Applications

* Web-based Transactions | Synthetic HTTP-based transactions are executed locally at each location where Envoy appliances are deployed. DNS lookup, connection setup time, time to first byte and time to last byte are measured.

* TCP/IP Communications | Often called a TCP ÒhandshakeÓ, the round-trip connection establishment process more accurately measures the network portion of the communication by isolating much of the delay associated with the server itself, such as load and content rendering.

* Internet Protocol Telephony (IPT) | For IPT environments, the Envoy NRM captures 40 specific QoS metrics that reflect the health of the telephony system. Uplogix uses standard Harvard sentences to gauge IPT performance and monitors important metrics such as jitter, latency, packet loss, MOS scores, and R values.
