How Streamlined Adminstrations Works
The Envoy product family makes it easy for you
to choose which network maintenance activities to automate
and which to tackle manually, ensuring that you remain
compliant with your organization’s management policies
while benefiting from the Envoy’s next-generation capabilities.
Via the central management console – the Envoy Management
Station (EMS) – simultaneous changes can be issued enterprise-wide
to multiple devices with a few mouse clicks. Throughout
the distributed infrastructure, the Envoy appliances receive
their orders from the EMS and automatically execute the
changes, leveraging their dedicated serial connections
to managed devices. For instance, network managers can
push out mass configuration changes to Envoy appliances
via the network, rather than addressing each router and
switch on an individual basis.
In addition to saving your team valuable time by automating
procedures, the Envoy appliances also serve as a safety
net when changes are being made. Each Envoy NRM retains
a cache of up-to-date, detailed information about each
managed device, including previous configurations. If
a change does fail, the Envoy appliances immediately roll
the device back to the last known good configuration using
our unique SurgicalRollbackª feature. Affecting only the
changed elements, this process restores a known state
without affecting other device operations. At times, the
Envoy NRM can even repair a few command lines in the new
configuration and try again. In both cases, network administrators
are notified of whether the automated changes were successful
– and which devices are still not compliant.
